Bar or Ballroom?

Off to York tomorrow with Mrs Flashbang for a Caledonian Ball which will see my new svelte post-January self spinning around in the Highland 51st, (invented by POW's at Oflag 7b from the 51st Highland Division captured at St Valery), the Duke of Perth and others long lost in the dusty recesses of youthful memory. Yes it's been a while. I once did a spell with the Gordon's for a few months in Belize and on our return to Kirknewton the Adjutant instructed all the junior officers to parade for reeling lessons under the Pipe-Major every Thursday after tea until such time he judged us fit to "pass off the floor." That though, was a very long time ago. Normally, I would refer to my aged copy of the "Swinging Sporran," but I fear that's long lost or been pilfered by a family member. Perhaps they do instructional videos on YouTube? The better option, for all concerned, might be for me to repair to the bar and cast the January drinking drought asunder.....

No dear, not this dancing....

Note to Mrs Flashbang, not this kind of dancing dear. Heels and handbags not recommended.
